DO's ARCHITECT

Japan is well-known as one of a country with the most wonderful architecture in it. In this project, I have to criticize a Japanese House called “NORA House” where I could learn many things from it.
A simple form and complex building
Nora house has simple form, seem from the point of exterior or interior. From exterior, Nora House has a rectangular shape, with 2 high tower roof and low corrugated roof, and big glass windows. From interior, many space to walk, shape of the room in Nora House partly in a box. Nora house used wood as structure for this house. They don’t use many materials, that’s one of many reason why this building feels and looks simple from inside or outside. And why we feels this building looks so simple because the building area not too large, that’s make anyone see this house small and simple. But, when we come in this house, this house getting looks complex. With many rooms, many stairs, and another things in this house. That’s all what make this building looks/feels simple but complex too.
The different floor height
As part of Atelier Bow-Wow’s ideology, they start to develop the design horizontally. Nora house has many height level of floor, different with another Japanese house and because of Atelier Bow-Wow’s ideology too. This is one of many reason why this building feels complex and has many rooms and stairs.
